Amazon.com As the first of the three Bleach feature films opens, Ichigo and Rukia are having a typical squabble--with Kon-butting in--when hordes of "Blanks" appear: weird white creatures that look vaguely like snowmen with pink caps. Senna, a Soul Reaper neither of them recognize, bursts into view and destroys the creatures. Although he initially finds her irritating, Ichigo grows fond of this strange girl, who leads him into a deadly conflict with a rebellious clan banished from the Soul Society a century earlier. Ganryu, the leader of the clan, recognizes Senna as a Shinenju, an entity composed of the memories of thousands of lost souls. He plans to use her latent power to destroy both the Soul Society and the World of the Living. Ichigo stops him with the assistance of the Soul Reaper Captains and Lieutenants. Memories of Nobody (2006) intensifies the main theme of the Bleach series: Ichigo's desire to protect those he cares about. Although director Noriyuki Abe stages the fight scenes with his usual panache--and more special effects than a television budget allows--Memories of Nobody has a more melancholy tone than the more comedic series. As the film reunites most of the creative team from the program, it often plays like an extended TV episode, but a touching one that will please Bleach fans. A second disc of extras includes two standard making-of documentaries, trailers in Japanese and English, and copies of the storyboards. (Rated "Teen," suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery) --Charles Solomon

Very enjoyable. It did not disappoint October 18, 2008 J. Mark Metz (Flemington, New Jersey United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I enjoyed Memories of Nobody very much. I thought the story was strong and got back to the kind of elements the show had during the attempt to rescue Rukia. The action and story were well done. My only regret may be that I didn't get to see it in the thearter. I would recommend it to Bleach fans in the US. One of the best parts of the special features was seeing the behind the scenes of the show. Especially the voice actors. It always amazes me how the picture you have in your head based on a voice is never anything like the people in real life. This was a great buy.
An Entertaining Movie But The Ending Breaks Your Heart November 11, 2008 Rich (CA) This is the first movie finally to come on dvd to the U.S. and I'm greatly happy to have gotten it. The story intro is pretty much the standard hollow attacking a soul when Ichigo and Rukia destroy it but afterwords strange and unusual spirits unlike hollows are in the living world, at first confused Rukia and Ichigo encounter another Soul reaper by the name of Senna who attacks the unusual spirits who are actually known as blanks. Senna who appears to be a younger soul reaper appears to also have a vague recollection of her memories and how she actually arrived in the living world. What the blanks are and who Senna really is are explained later in the movie as well as meeting the villains and their agendas as well. Also another problem that's interconnected to Senna, the blanks, and the mysterious villains is the calamity that's causing the real world and the spirit world to collide with each other which if they do will of course destroy both worlds. The action is great as well as the animation and humor which we expect with the Bleach series and you'll get the gaggle of cast from the Bleach universe and while most won't get to much talk time you'll still see the characters in the movie. The one thing that really annoyed me about the movie was the ending I can't say why to much because that it'll give it away but it is heart breaking with what happens to one of the characters in the movie. The movie is wide-screen with 5.1 Japanese/English audio and the English audio commentaries. The second dvd you'll get has Japanese production interviews, storyboards, trailers, and a couple bonus features. So if you're a fan of the Bleach series or even if you haven't seen the series but are a fan of Yu yu Hakusho I say this dvd is a great one to get for your collection.....
