Amazon.com The second season of the popular comedy-adventure Naruto begins with the second round of the Chunin exams. To reintroduce the main characters, the eternally impatient Naruto Uzumaki starts the show "27 minutes early--in the time slot of The Prince of Tennis"--so everyone has to scramble to fill the time until the videotape arrives. But once this very silly introduction concludes, the tone of the series darkens and the relationships grow more complicated. Brooding, beetle-browed Rock Lee reveals his affection for Sakura, just as she's coming to terms with her former best friend (and rival for Sasuke's affection) Ino. Sakura and Sasuke grudgingly gain a little respect for Naruto--when he's not annoying them by shooting off his big mouth. But the most significant development is the emergence of the villain Orochimaru, a reptilian character with a prehensile tongue Gene Simmons would envy. One of the most notorious and deadly criminals in ninja history, Orochimaru is drawn to Sasuke's extraordinary abilities, and he plans to ensnare the young ninja as an accomplice. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke fail to grasp the seriousness of Orochimaru's plot, although the Hokage and his lieutenants are on the alert. This dire threat infuses the often slapstick antics of Squad Seven with a menace the first season lacked. Naruto may still be everybody's favorite knucklehead, but he's up against much tougher foes. The three-disc comes with the bound storyboards (in Japanese only) of Episode #29, "Naruto's Counterattack: Never Give In!" (Rated T+ Older Teen; suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, brief nudity, toilet humor) --Charles Solomon

I'm actually enjoying this. June 10, 2007 THE MAIN MAN (Central Bookin', NY) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I'm a late bloomer to Naruto and this series gets better after each viewing. I bought this collection when it first dropped and I already seen it 3 times. I'll add as much info and try not to include spoilers. This set continues the Chunin Exam taking place in the Forest of Death. The episodes are very well thought out. There are new enemies introduced to include a very powerful one. A few characters go through some new developments and they actually mature into an adult like character. The action scenes are incredible. Even though this chapter takes a darker tone, the level of comedy isn't neglected. I also like the way other ninjas are getting enough screen time to showcase thier very deadly arsenal. Its not just Naruto and his crew. Everyone is a threat. If your a fan of Naruto then you must own this collection. It contains episodes 26-38. To be more accurate it begins the one on one rounds on who stays and who go's. The trailer for volume 4 is also included and I wish I never took the time to watch it. I can hardly wait for the boxset and I'm very tempted to buy the individual DVD's. If your new to Naruto I recommend checking out the 1st boxset. The numbers are very small from what I know of the people who don't like this series.
Naruto at it's finest. May 19, 2007 Alkan Traveler (Laplace, La. United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've bought past Naruto boxed sets from different anime sites and these are by far the best ones. The subtitling is very good and almost the same with the fan subbed versions. I wish they would release more boxed sets so they can at least catch up with the series. Naruto:Shippuden series is getting better and better. For anyone who is looking to buy boxed Naruto sets I would strongly suggest theses.
good addition to the box sets June 1, 2007 sammyboy (bellevue ne usa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
well i finnaly got it today i also own the other two boxsets and this one was just as good as the others it starts right in the forest of death and ends right before the sudden death eliminations the perfect place to end in my opinion just like the other box sets you have the options of watching it in japanese with english subtitles or you can watch it in english with subtitles as well so you can see what they say in the japanese version while watching it in english perfect the album art on the inside of the box is also very nice if your looking for an addition to your naruto collection this is the boxset for you
Now it begins! April 19, 2007 Daniel Safholm (Roseville, California United States) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is the box set I've been waiting for. Here we stop playing around and start setting up for the main storyline. At the beginning of the Chuunin exam's Stage 2, we first meet Orochimaru and learn his designs on Sasuke. Hopefully, it will go as far as to include the episode where he finally wakes up in Curse Seal Level 1 and thrashes Saku. Way cool. If not, I can't wait til Vol. 4!
