A decent volume in the Gundam Seed Destiny Library December 1, 2006 Paul Katz (District of Columbia, United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
First off, the production value of this DVD is significantly higher than the last disc. There are no blips in the mastering like we saw in the volume 4 disc (a sync issue in volume 4's first episode crashes my x-box's DVD player). Also of note is the bulking up of extras (one new trailer, a brief music video, and character profiles). These are welcome additions to what has been pretty sparse offerings in prior discs. The menus look slicker and overall are more creatively done. As for the actual episodes, a more-than-usual amount of battle animation is reused, especially with the second episode really being a "clip-isode". Actually, there really isn't any new combat until the middle of the fourth episode in the set. The bulk of the time is spent on Shin's character development, and the girls fighting over Athrun's attention (which had more than a couple hilarious moments). Overall, this DVD is a significant improvement over volume 4, although volume 1 is still easily my favorite (can they top the Armory 1 battle?) Volume 5 won't satisfy any cravings for serious Gundam combat, but there is enough going on off the battle field to keep Gundam fans happy.
Good but not what I expected January 13, 2007 Dickon Barry (29 Palms, CA USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the 5th DVD in Bandai's newest Gundam series, Gundam SEED Destiny. Unlike the first four discs this disc is not full off the intense fighting that iscomman in Gundam shows. These episodes are used to develop characters, and build the base for the remander of teh series, including creating a few new relationships.
short review January 5, 2007 Rajyalaxmi Madoori (Chicago, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
excellent series so far. the only problem i had with it was that the second episode was just a recap of what happened before..
Long Series January 11, 2007 K. Gallagher OK but some time hard to keep up with the action and read sub titles. Good series but lots of them.
A great chapter in an excellant series March 22, 2007 Rebecca A. Naniak (Chicago, IL) Gundam Seed Destiny is visually compelling and has the most awesome Gundams ever! However, there is still intriguing drama, plenty of laughs and a little romance too. Although this disc begins with a recap episode and has a little filler, it gets into an interesting story line invovling Shinn and Stella at the end. And the end is a cliff hanger! Overall, this was a exciting chapter in an excellant series.
