Like the first Inu-Yasha feature, Affections Touching Across Time, The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass pits the regular cast against a new foe: Kaguya, who claims to be the legendary Moon Princess. Series creator Rumiko Takahashi mixes Eastern and Western elements in this supernatural tale: Kaguya's symbol is the pentacle, associated with magic in Europe. Like the Princess in the Japanese fable "The Tale of the Bamboo-Cutter" (also called "The Maiden from the Sky"), Kaguya demands bizarre magical objects, which Kanna and Kagura fetch. The supernatural battles don't prevent Kagome and Inu-Yasha from squabbling or Miroku from making yet another ill-considered pass at Sango. Ultimately, the unacknowledged love they share enables Kagome and Inu-Yasha to defeat Kagura, and their warm moments recall the unexpected gentleness of the OVA "The Two Akanes: 'Ranma, Look at Me!'" from Takahashi's most famous creation, Ranma 1/2. (Unrated, suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon

5 out of 5 stars The infamous kiss.   August 29, 2004

For starters, I saw this in Japan and "The Castle Beyond The Looking Glass," or "Movie 2," IS the movie where Kagome and Inuyasha share their first (and only recorded) kiss.

As for him choosing Kikyo, the anime series ends on September 13th, 2004, with an hour special of episodes 166 & 167 (TvTome.com). The manga will also end this year, though a precise date hasn't been given. If you've read the manga and have seen the most recent Japanese episodes, he doesn't choose Kikyo. Or Kagome, for that matter. It's inconclusive.

TV Tome mentioned that the producer of the show said something about "the first installment of the show," implying that there may be a second one yet to come, or, he just meant the series and manga are ending this year, but the 4th movie is still in production. The only thing that the producer makes somewhat clear is that the anime will be left open-ended, because since neither the defeat of Naraku, nor the completion of the jewel have happened in the manga yet, they don't want to make up their own ending that would either contradict or spoil Takahashi's. That and there will be a seiyuu commentary at the end of the episode, which will likely just be, "Thanks for watching, go see the movie."

Thank you and goodnight.

5 out of 5 stars Inuyasha & Kagome movie 2 review   September 6, 2004
Always has her nose in a book (Eagle Creek, OR United States)

Just let me start by saying thatsome of the reviews have very incorrect info. People are saying the half-dog demon Inuyasha chooses the dead priestess Kikyo over her "reincarnation" Kagome. That is most certinly not true !!! Now onto the movie : in the last movie Inuyasha and the gang [Kagome,Shippo,Miroku, and Sango] are fighting a giant moth demon who is trying to convinced inuyasha to free his father, Inuyasha thinking he is doing the right thing sets him free giving the other moth demon infinate power!!!
In this movie Inuyasha an the gang have beaten Naraku and are going their separate ways. Sango finds he little brother Kohaku.Miroku goes of to do his buddist "work",and Inuyasha and Kagome go to collect the rest of the Shikon Jewel. Meanwhile Kanna and Kagura go to find this specia mirror, when they find and free the mirror a demon comes out with it . The demon takes her mirror and killes Kanna & Kagura. The mirror demon [Kaguya] then goes to find Inuyasha because his father was the one who trapped her in the first place! When she finds him they start to fight , she sucks out Inuyahsa's human soul leaving him a wild demon killing everything in sight.Kagome is despratly trying to get Inuyasha to calm down. Finally she has an idea, she leans up for a kiss [a long one] and inuyasha goes back to being a half demon. In the end they kill Kaguya and break the mirror.THE END
And now the 3rd movie is coming out I can't wait !!!!!!!! Both of these movies are great, you should really watch them !!!!

5 out of 5 stars Heh. I've already seen it   October 10, 2004

My friend managed to find a download of it, and put it on network so that I could watch. As is it is pretty awesome.
Basic plot: The party appears to have killed Naraku. Miroku's hand has healed, Kagura's heart is back, and all seems back to normal. But Kanna's mirror leads them to another mirror, one occupied by Kaguya an immortal of legend sent to the moon from Mount Fushi (Eternity), which is now called Fuji. She leads Kanna on a quest to find five treasures representing the five elements of Chinese religion, which includes Inuyasha's fire robe. Releasing her has its price, as she plans to stop time for eternity.
Spoiler: Kagome and Inuyasha kiss in this film.
