Product Description That's right, folks! Put down the video game controller! Skip that rehearsal for your band! Make whatever sacrifices you must to those comic gods you hold so dear! Just make sure you're ready because Bryan Lee O'Malley and Scott Pilgrim are back! Well, a couple months have passed since the last time we caught up with our intrepid hero, but what can change in a few short months? Well, not much has... Scott's still living with his roommate Wallace Wells. He's still playing in a mediocre rock band named Sex Bob-omb. And most importantly, he's still dating the lovely Ramona Flowers while working his way through the gaggle of superpowered, superstylish, superevil ex-boyfriends determined to take him down. But something is different. Don't look now, but Scott Pilgrim may actually be getting it together. And it's a good thing, too, because Scott is about to confront Ramona's most intimidating ex yet!
Winner of the 2008 Harvey Award for BEST GRAPHIC ALBUM - ORIGINAL!

He does indeed. June 8, 2010 Adam L. Brinklow 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This very aptly titled volume is a turning point for the series, in which it stops being just an amusing slacker comedy and pop culture blender and starts to offer some surprisingly insightful commentary on relationships, maturity, and the many different ways that people can mislead each other and themselves.
All of the characters start to slowly come to grips with the fact that they must reconcile the demands of an adult life with the trappings of the arrested, prolonged adolescence they're living in and decide how (or whether) they're going to finally embrace adulthood.
Also, it's damn funny, with some of the best visual gags in this always amusing series (Scott in the purse is one of those perversely hilarious images the memory of which had me chuckling at odd times during the day, sometimes to the discomfort of the people around me. Nice visual metaphor too; I guess that settles once and for all who is pulling all the weight in that relationship, at least at that point). A lot of the elements that bogged down the first half of the story, like the voluminous cast and sometimes annoying dialogue, have to a great degree been wrangled into submission (though are still sometimes troublesome).
It was a long while out the gate (much like its cast of characters), but with "Scott Pilgrim Gets it Together" this series finally reaches a level of quality that justifies its acclaim.
Hot fun in the summertime July 16, 2010 Johnny Heering (Bethel, CT United States) Yes, it's Scott Pilgrim comic book #4. Now in color! (The first eight pages, anyway). Scott faces off with Ramona's fourth evil ex, who is a girl. Scott comes across as even more clueless than before this time around. Which makes things even funnier.
Reread Review July 16, 2010 Jesse Haller (Minneapolis, MN USA) I started to read the series some years ago, with book three's release, and have been following ever since. With the final book being released, I'm rereading and reviewing the earlier volumes.
This is the funnest of the volumes, it's also one of the best. Scott really comes of age in this volume, and finally grows up... well starts to grow up. The action scenes are better, the humor is great. there are subplots that start to form, not that I don't love the main story... it's just nice to help form the world better.
This book, and the series as a whole, is perfect for the 17 to 25 year old range, that are growing up in the same culture and going through the same experiences as Scott and his friends. Anyone up into their 30's can get a kick out of the series, being able to look back and laugh about that time in their lives.
Scott = 4 , Boredom = 0 July 1, 2010 Tyler S. (Brentwood, CA United States) Vol 4 is nearly just as amazing as the first three volumes. This series has an unbelievable hook on its readers. Once I start I can't stop, and before you know it I'm angry that it's over. Before I explain my four-star rating I will assure you that the series is still strong and it remains one of my favorites to this day. In comparison to the other volumes, I give this one a lesser rating. In comparison to most graphic novels out there, Scott Pilgrim is way ahead of them in value. Ironic it is that such a lighthearted silly story can have so much of an impact on the comic world. The dumbfounding conclusion is that we have a story that doesn't take itself too seriously, but it has become extremely popular in the world of serious comic fans, and it is regarded as an achievement in humorous literature.
My reason for docking a star may be a little trivial, but I feel giving it 5 stars would be dishonest. I didn't enjoy this edition quite as much as the others, because I began to hate Ramona. I didn't consider it that great of a method to push the readers away from Ramona. She becomes quite b**chy and she even drops a dealbreaker on Scott. I won't spoil it, but at this point I'm asking Lisa to kick Ramona Flowers out of the picture. That being said, this story is just as amusing, and this annoyance is not large enough to affect my enjoyment. I'm sure in the next book we can have some sort of change in that department, hopefully. All I'm asking O'Malley to do is give us a heroine that's worthy of Scott Pilgrim. We loved Mary Jane for a very good reason.
Cartoonist and Graphic Novel of the Year for 2008 March 24, 2009 Samax Randolph (DFW, TX) the ghettoManga Cartoonist of the Year Award for 2008 goes to Brian Lee O'Malley writer/artist of the OGN series Scott Pilgrim. Part four of the series "Scott Pilgrim Gets It Together" was voted the 2008 OGN of the Year.
Explaining the appeal of Scott Pilgrim is not difficult. it's a book about a twenty-something slacker who falls in Luh... Luh... who really likes this delivery girl named Ramona who just so happens to take short cuts through Scott's dreams (there's a really good subspace portal that passes through there...). the problem is he can only date Ramona if he agrees to vanquish her Seven Evil Ex-boyfriends, but that's okay, 'cause Scott also happens to have MAD fightin' skills!
as you may have noticed, Scott Pilgrim is filled with hijinx, action, and small to medium doses of mushy stuff! in "Gets It Together", Scott and Ramona wrestle with the L word (no, not lesbian!), Scott's band gets a chance to record, and Scott is stalked by a mysterious swordsman... good times! OH! and Scott faces off with another of Ramona's Evil Exes who's a little different than the others. the events of this volume force Scott to grow up (a little... he ACTUALLY gets a JOB!) and foreshadows his eventual meeting with Gideon (the evilest Ex of them all)in part 6 quite nicely!
O'Malley takes advantage of the OGN format (popularized by the mass importing of manga) as well as anyone i've ever read. the pacing and storytelling in Scott Pilgrim would be very, very difficult to pull off in any other format. O'malley's art is deceptively cartoony, like a cross between Schulz's Peanuts, Waterson's Calvin and Hobbes and your favorite fighting video game. O'Malley combines humor, action and adolescent sweetheart drama as well as onyone since Stan Lee and Romita on classic Amazing Spiderman. Really, just buy the books. the 200 plus page joints are available for ten bucks apiece on Amazon, and well worth the money! start with Scott Pilgrim, Vol. 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life and by the time you get to this one, you will be a total Zombie for the talented Mr. Pilgrim!
peace.
samax.
