Overview January 7, 2008 Happosai (Tendo Dojo) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The 2nd Season of Rumiko Takahashi's beloved series "Ranma 1/2" is filled with plenty of action. New characters join the series in this season. Shampoo returns from China. With Shampoo is her great grandmother, a master in martial arts dating back from 3000 years of Chinese Amazon History. Shampoo's suitor, Mousse, follows her from China and bears a grudge against Ranma Saotome. It appears that Shampoo is Ranma's new fiancee according to Amazon Tribal Law. The last character to join this season is myself - a perverted old man who steals ladies underwear and has a thing for female bodies, esp. female Ranma. I am also the master of the School of Anything Goes with Soun Tendo, Genma Saotome, and Ranma Saotome as my disciples. In this season we learn that Akane can't cook, Ryoga and Ranma both learn a new technique, and Ranma will do anything to become a whole man again. Ranma weakness is shown.

I just bought the second and third season of Ranma 1/2 and I'm now trying to wait patiently for the rest of the seasons to come out in the thinkpack sets.To many fans of the show who haven't gotten the sets yet I say get them now the pros are great price, you get both english and japanese audio, and the thinpacks help solve space problems on the shelf. The cons are the video quality of the set while ok is still not all that great from time to time when scenes skip you'll see a white line on the top or bottom of the picture many of the anime dvd's in the 90's have this it looks like it was recorded from tape to dvd sometimes. So unlike Inuyasha the video while for the most part clear well still have some faults. If you're just checking out this series the basic storyline is you have Ranma a martial artist who while training with his father in China stumbles across an area of cursed pools each one with a different curse While his father and Ranma are doing some acrobatic martial arts they each fall into a cursed pool Ranma's father who turns into a panda when doused with cold water and Ranma turns into a girl the same way. Most of the series deals with Ranma trying to find a cure for this unusual problem and dealing with a tomboyish fiancee who his father had betrothed him to.The series has some drama but for a lot of the show it's very comedic and light and story plot.So I say if you like Inuyasha get this series while you can I believe that you'll not regret it...
