Boxed Set Goodness August 2, 2007 C. LaFay (Frozen Tundra of the North) 23 out of 28 found this review helpful
When I ordered I expected just the series, 7 seasons worth of episodes. What was delivered to me was so much the better. All 7 seasons on 20 discs, All 12 OVA episodes on 2 discs and both movies on 1 disc.
I haven't watched them all yet, but the quality seems the same as the original (not the greatest, but come on, it's anime from the late 80's, early 90's).
If you've seen Ranma and love it then this collection is just right for you. An excellent price for a full anime, minus some of the peripherals (no case art and such, just plain cases chock full o' discs).
This is one of those quirky delightful series that you can't help but fall in love with, in English or Japanese (the voices for the most part are wonderful and even the switch from Sarah Strange as boy Ranma to Richard Cox is an appropriate one mid-series).
Excellent series, turn on subtitles for alternate dialogue January 13, 2008 webgrunt (USA) 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
Unlike many other books, this translates well to DVD. I recommend turning on subtitles, even if you select English audio, because the voice actors (and/or director) often changed the words to better and more natural, and in some cases more descriptive, phrasing; while the subtitles more closely follow the original translations in the manga (comic book) series.
I don't know whether or not this is a bootleg version as one other reviewer has claimed, but if purchased by volume at retail price, this collection would cost around 500 dollars which seems ridiculously overpriced. Rumiko Takahashi (the creator of the Ranma 1/2 series) is already one of the wealthiest women in Japan (see wikipedia for reference) and her work just keeps getting more and more popular, so I doubt she's losing any sleep over this set if it really is a bootleg.
Great collection July 31, 2008 Delilah (Italy) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have no idea what that other reviewer claiming these are bootlegs is talking about. All disks I recieved were original and the corresponding superior quality. What a great buy if you need the series!
