Product Description Christophe wants nothing more than to be a simple country priest. When he refuses to sleep with a corrupt Cardinal, he's forced to work in the same manor as the man who almost tempted him away from the cloth when they were younger. Alain was Christophe's true love, but Christophe chose to join the priesthood rather than be with him. Alain bitterly remembers Christophe's rejection. He accepts the Cardinal's assignment: destroy Christophe's career with a scandal. Will his cruel conviction hold once Alain learns how devastated Christophe was to have to deny his feelings for him?

This Book is Gorgeous! September 30, 2007 Manda_P (Orlando, FL) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I was going nuts waiting for this after I got the preview book at Jacon! This is so beautiful. The costumes, the backgroudns in the rooms, the sexy guys! This was set in the past during the French revolution. I think these artists should always do period work. You could tell they were just researching everything, and it all ended up being really detailed. The story is about two boys in boarding school who got caught kissing, and one of them who's the son of a whore named Alan gets banned, but the other named Chris wants to be a priest and is usually good gets to stay. The boys are in love so Alan wants the priest to run off with him. But the priest wannabe boy decides to stay because he thinks what they did was wrong. So the other boy goes off alone all angry and heartbroken. But they meet again at an aristocrat's house where Chris/priest is a tutor and Alan/whoreson is a crook in disguise trying to con the family. The aristocrat woman in the house tells Alan to get Chris messed up in a sex scandal because he pissed off a cardinal. Alan wants to hurt Chris at frst, but they recognize each other and the old feelings start coming back. 'Start coming back,' not 'oh magically everything's ok between them for no reason.' What I mean is an intricate story that happens to bring them back together with lots of twists and turns, hot sex, conflict, cliffhangers, and then an ending that works. Not a stupid rushed easy ending, but what could actually happen during that time with those two characters. I guess I'm just so used to reading stories where characters fall in love for no reason, forgive horrible pains from the past for no reason, that when a writer finally gets it right you just notice it so much more! I want to say personally that I'm glad we can see their things in some of the pages. Maybe I'm a pervert, but I feel cheated when there's like nothing there. This isn't that explicit, but nothing is 'invisible'. Maybe blocked under a hand or something, but what isn't blocked you can see. The love scenes weren't the regular generic stuff either. The first one between them was like UHNNNN. Friction was involved, that's all I'm going to say. I see a 'insert product link' thing ontop of the review box now so I think people should check out Dany's other two books. I really loved Idol even though it was sad, and Wishing was good too even though it was even sadder! Both had happy endings in the end though, and the same gorgeous art! So here they are:IDOL (Yaoi) Wishing For The Moon (Yaoi)
Better than expected November 26, 2007 Jessee Lyman Honestly, I don't think I've found much from Yaoi Press that I've liked. It always seems half done and centered on sex, which isn't presented tastefully. Although this book isn't on my top list of all time favorites, I was impressed by the storyline and somewhat the art, since it's much better than what I've seen in these books before. By no means is it on par with foreign manga (which I know is an unfair comparison) but the story was such that I got entranced. I would recommend this to a yaoi fan that wants to support American published manga, likes a large heap of drama in their storyline, and has so much manga they're thinking of buying a third bookcase for it. If you're just a dabbler, there is much more out there for you.
A Great Read! January 8, 2008 Cristy2T (Downey,CA) This a great manga, it has a plot the art is really wonderful and keeps you guessing to the end. My only complaint is I wish it was longer and that there was more of a solution to the end. But overall I loved this manga ^^!
Liaisons dangereuses in Yaoi fashion May 18, 2008 Ventura Angelo (Brescia, Lombardia Italy) A slimy cardinal and ascheming noblewoman put an innocent your priest in jeopardy. His former lover is to involve him in a scandal, making him subject to the base whims of the cardinal. But French revolution looms, and clergy and nobles won't be in charge for long. Will innocent love triumph? Well written and sumptuouly drawn, this graphic novelette is a masterpiece!
