Product Description Studio: Funimation Prod Inc Release Date: 08/01/2006
Amazon.com As Fullmetal Alchemist builds to its climax, director Seiji Mizushima and screenwriter Shou Aikawa ratchet up the emotional intensity. Ed and Al learn two terrible lessons. The first is that any deed, however well-intended, can have dire consequences--including Ed's efforts to free the people of Liore from a false prophet in the first episodes of the series. The second lesson reinforces the truth of the cliche "Be careful what you wish for, because you may get it." Using the arcane knowledge of the Ishbalans and the lives of hundreds soldiers, Scar succeeds in creating a Philosopher's Stone--in a most unlikely place. But the Elric Brothers have no time to explore the magical Stone's vast powers: The Homunculi and the Military are circling them like vultures. Complicating matters further is the reappearance of the Hohenheim, the long-lost father of Edward and Alphonse. Hardcore otaku will notice manga artist Hiromu Arakawa's cow self-caricature amid the stars floating around a dazed Winrey. (Rated TV PG: violence, grotesque imagery, tobacco use) --Charles Solomon

...that this is one of, if not the, best volume yet. Take it from me; I've seen the entire series (and will see the movie when I buy it on DVD September 12) that if there were ever any volumes in the FMA series that are must-haves, it would be Volumes 11 - 13. If you think that, "Oh, you're just a child. This is probably a little cartoon for kids..." YOU ARE WRONG. I am barely allowed to watch this show even though it is my favorite at the time. The rating for all of these episodes is TV-14 and should not be watched by the faint of heart. I would say that from the last episode in Volume 10 - the LAST EPISODE (Volume thirteen, third episode) it is rated for blood, violence, language, use of alchohol and tobacco, and maybe even suggestive themes. I don't say that it's not only a kid show just because it has all of that stuff in it, I'm saying that because my PARENTS even like this show. In fact, my dad is anxiously waiting for the movie to come out! (see what I'm saying?) This show is for everyone who can stand watching it, or if they can but they're even allowed to...
I can't stand how good this show is... August 16, 2006 Gloria (usa) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
All of the Fullmetal Alchemist volumes are good, but this is where it really gets... awesome. And I don't mean that as in the slang term, but that these episodes, from this point to the end, truly and honestly fill me with awe. In this volume is episode 42, and I've watched it, I don't know, dozens of times since it aired on adult swim. And still every time I watch it, I get cold chills all over. The effect is so powerful, it just doesn't fade. I've read a lot of books, watched a lot of TV and movies, and I have never come across anything as original as the story of Fullmetal Alchemist (anime and manga). But perhaps it is not as original as I think. If you can prove me wrong, please do so. Because if whatever it is, is even half as grand as this, then I'll be interested.
